Capt. Jon G. Gridley, co-owner of Sea Tow Clarks Hill Lake in South Carolina and Georgia, was honored with an international life-saving award by the Association for Rescue at Sea at the 25th anniversary Conference of Professional Operators for Response Towing in January in Tampa, Fla.
The award recognizes bravery exhibited by a member of C-PORT during an on-water rescue and was presented to Gridley and his friend, Jim Masiongale.
Last summer, during a thunderstorm with winds in excess of 50 knots, the friends rescued two men and a boy from the rough wave conditions. Gridley revived one man by administering CPR.
